Original Notice (2:37pm) -
We want to update you about a current situation in the vicinity of Duffield School. The RCMP are addressing an incident in our community reported by one of our students. As a precautionary measure, they have advised us to enact a 'hold and secure' scenario for the school.
First and foremost, please know that the safety, security, and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. We have protocols in place to handle situations like this, and we are in constant communication with the necessary authorities to ensure everyone's safety.
In line with our emergency procedures:
- The school is currently locked, with NO arrivals or departures permitted. This includes students, staff, and parents. You will NOT be able to pick up your child until an official “all-clear” is given.
- Please do NOT approach or go to the school until you receive instructions to do so.
- Kindly refrain from calling the school or your child’s cell phone. It's crucial that our lines remain open for emergency communications. We understand your concerns and promise to keep you informed.
Buses are currently being held at a remote location and will be ready to transport children home once the situation is resolved and RCMP have lifted the ‘hold and secure’.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation during times like this. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with Division Emergency Response Plans at:
https://www.psd.ca/schools/student-safety/emergency-procedures
The coordination and assistance of parents, alongside emergency services such as the police and fire departments, are crucial to the effective implementation of these plans.
We will provide updates as soon as we have more information. Thank you for your understanding and trust in us to prioritize the safety of our Duffield School community.
